OUR STORY

Founded by Valentino Garavani in 1960 in Rome, Maison Valentino is born into the cultural heritage of the Eternal city. As Italian cinema embarks on its golden age, Valentino dresses silver screen stars from Sophia Loren to Elizabeth Taylor, while cultural icon Jackie Kennedy chooses the young Italian fashion house as her preferred couturier.

The first Italian designer to present his Haute Couture collections in Paris, Valentino goes on to metamorphose the female silhouette for almost half a century, creating beauty women dream of around the world. With his romantic universe, the audacity of the official Valentino red,[1] color he creates, and his commitment to craftsmanship, Valentino defines a new couture aesthetic to celebrate each woman’s unique individuality.

Designing under Valentino Garavani since 1999, Pierpaolo Piccioli takes the reigns as house artistic director in 2016. Sourcing inspiration in Valentino’s color sensibility and his technical mastery, Pierpaolo Piccioli weaves the Roman couture house’s heritage into new modern relevance. Marrying innovation with tradition, haute couture with street culture, with his diversity of style references, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Valentino is a harmony its own.
